Hi, I’m Pete!

the creative head and hands behind
Big Appetite Illustration,

I'm based in Nottingham, the perfect place to draw in all four corners of the UK.

the pig is Pablo Pigcasso.

He's based in my head but keeps me accountable to chasing big ideas, staying hungry to help others and drawing people in on the journey to deliver delicious takeaways at any event, conference or creative endeavour we can turn our visual communication skills to.

My first and greatest discovery
in life was drawing.
It’s been my compass - helping me understand, escape, shape, study, interact with, and reimagine the world around me.
But the journey from here…

I dived headfirst into world of Product Design, learning to problem-solve and communicate complex ideas visually. I got to draw here and there but CAD kept eating the concept work!

Next I poured myself into the world of print and packaging, mastering collaboration on a corporate scale with a creative brain and an exuberant passion for people. But world distribution wasn’t what I was after.

Every turn I took was in pursuit of doing more doodling. The day jobs weren’t doing it, and the hunger to get hands-on kept pulling me back to the drawing board, wondering how to make the creative career I had in my head a reality.

I started small, drawing for others in my spare time… but all day? Locked away in my loft? Could my inner extrovert handle that?

Eventually, I plucked up the courage, stepped out and went full time as a freelance illustrator!
I kept leaning in, kept learning, and let the compass lead when…

…BOOM!
I fell head over heels into (and in love with) Graphic Recording.
I wasn’t looking for it, and I didn’t know I needed it—until I got to have a go!

Graphic Recording picked me up out of my comfort zone and dropped me deep into the heart of conversations, where drawing isn’t just about creating—it’s about connecting. My drawings were bridging gaps, sparking ideas, and making moments unforgettable.

Now, every job is an adventure—mapping the conversation as we go, turning complexity into something clear, engaging, and impossible to ignore. It’s fast, it’s fluid, and it transforms thinking as it unfolds.
